Did you know that there is a range of community services that you can refer yourself to without the need of a referral or consultation from your GP? We have listed services that you can contact for a range of issues.

NHS ADULT AUDIOLOGY

The NHS adult audiology service can assess patient suitability for a community audiology service, please visit their website and complete their self assessment form. Please note that this service is only for adults. 

CHILDREN'S SPEECH AND LANGUAGE THERAPY

Speech and Language Therapists work with children and young people from birth to 19 years who have difficulties with speech, language, communication, eating and drinking. They work very closely with all people involved in the child or young person's life to support their speech, language and communication development and they also offer training to parents, carers and professionals.

MINOR EYE CONDITIONS SCHEME

The Minor Eye Conditions Service (MECS) provides assessment and treatment for people with recently occurring minor eye problems. It is an NHS service provided by accredited optometrists (also commonly called opticians). They provide treatment for a wide range of eye symptoms such as eye irritation and inflammation, painful eye, recent and sudden loss of vision, recently occurring flashes or floaters and many more which are listed on their website. You can arrange an appointment with an optometrist through the Minor Eye Conditions Service.
